Ditch the Charging Detour
Certified EV charger installation in Portland for faster, easier charging at home.

EV Charger Installation in Portland, OR

Portland is one of the most EV-friendly cities in the country, and the homeowners here know it. What they also know is that public charging stations are unreliable, slow, and designed for people who don’t have a better option. A Level 2 home charger is that better option — a dedicated 240V circuit that adds 20 to 30 miles of range per hour, installed in your garage and ready every time you pull in.

Safety Home Services is Qmerit, Tesla, and ChargePoint-certified and has been installing EV chargers across the Portland metro for several years. We assess your panel, confirm your home can support the charger, handle every permit through the City of Portland, and don’t consider the job done until the charger is tested and you understand exactly how it works.

Save on Your Installation

Safety Home Services members receive 15% off all installations, plus priority scheduling and an annual home electrical audit, for $14.95 per month.

Your EV Charger Questions, Answered

Most installations are completed in a single visit lasting two to four hours. More complex jobs — like homes that need a panel upgrade first — may require a follow-up appointment, which we coordinate upfront so there are no surprises.

That depends on your panel’s current capacity, which we assess before any work begins. Many homes can support a Level 2 charger without upgrades, but if yours can’t, we handle the coordination so everything happens in the right order.

The City of Portland requires a permit for Level 2 charger installations, and skipping that step creates problems when you sell your home or file an insurance claim. We pull every required permit as part of the standard installation process.

We install chargers compatible with all major EV brands — Tesla, Rivian, Chevy, Hyundai, Ford, and others. We can work with a charger you’ve already purchased or help you choose one that fits your vehicle and usage.

Most garages can be set up for a Level 2 charger regardless of their current configuration. We assess the space during our panel evaluation and handle whatever wiring is needed to get the charger where you actually want it.

At Home EV Charging, Installed With Care

A Level 2 charger should make EV ownership easier, not leave you questioning whether the installation was done correctly. Safety Home Services gives Portland homeowners a thorough, code-conscious process from panel assessment to final walkthrough, so your charger is set up for safe, reliable daily use.

We account for your home’s electrical capacity, parking setup, charger location, and required permit details before the work begins. Once installed, we test the charger, walk you through how it works, and make sure you’re ready to plug in with confidence.

Don’t Take Our Word for It

The electrician showed up on time and assessed the electrical issues on my girlfriends electrical panel at her house. The quote was free. He found there was a breaker that was incorrect for the panel and the main power breaker was somewhat corroded. He quoted us and then waited for the power company to shut off power and then fixed the issue promptly by installing a new correct breaker and then cleaning the panel. This was a big safety issue and the electrician waited patiently until our issue was resolved. The panel was sparking/arcing and created a fire hazard. As soon as the work was completed by Trevor the power in the home was working perfectly. We are grateful for the friendly and affordable service and especially how they were concerned with our safety and waited for the power company to turn off power and then fix our issue instead of rescheduling or going to a different job. Absolutely deserving of 5 stars!

I recently moved into my new home and had to have an EV charging plug installed and thought, well, might as well have extra outlets installed and ceiling fans too. The folks at Safety Home Services were so kind and responsive. Trevor at Safety home was able to give me an solution and start working on what needed to be done immediately. The solution and quote for everything that I needed to have done was about on par with what other places were quoting me. A bonus was the new monthly subscription at Safety Home that discounts 15% of any work done. Trevor was super professional and took time to explain all the ins and outs and made me feel good about the work that was being done. Being young and a first time homeowner can make it hard to trust whether people are being honest or trying to screw you over with work that has to be done on a home, but I never felt that way with Trevor and Victoria helping me out. They were super responsive and were always on time or communicative. I strongly recommend them for any first time homebuyers.

Safety provided excellent service! The tech (Kevin?) was a bit early, which was fine by me. I needed a new range hood/vent installed that I had already purchased on my own. He started by checking to see if the one I had was really dead or if there was a problem that could be remedied. He did discover that the fan wasn’t getting enough power to run and traced where the problem was coming from. He fixed it, but I wanted the new one installed anyway due to a color change. He got right to work getting the old one out and the new one in. He even made a trip to Home Depot to provide me with the correct light bulbs required, which I viewed as above and beyond. He was great to work with and I would recommend Safety to anyone in need of an electrician!

Why Are You Still Hunting for a Charging Station?

You’ve got the car. You’ve done the research. At some point, driving out of your way to top off at a public charger stops making sense — and a Level 2 home charger is the fix that pays for itself in convenience alone. Safety Home Services handles the full installation, from pulling the permit to the final walkthrough, and we prefer to test the charger with your vehicle present so we can confirm everything is working correctly before the job is signed off. If your EV isn’t available on installation day, we’ll schedule a follow-up to complete that final step.
