Licensed EV Charger Installation in Salem, OR

Home EV charging changes the ownership experience entirely. Instead of planning routes around public charging stations or stopping along the way, a Level 2 home charger means the car is ready every time you leave the driveway. Safety Home Services installs EV chargers for homeowners throughout Salem and the Willamette Valley, with Qmerit, ChargePoint, and Tesla certifications covering the full range of vehicles and charging equipment.

Every installation is handled by a licensed electrician from start to finish. Our technicians run the dedicated circuit, handle the permitting, and install and test the charger before leaving. We prefer to test with your vehicle present to confirm everything is working correctly before the job is signed off. If your vehicle isn’t available on installation day, we’ll schedule a follow-up to complete that final step.

  • Dedicated 240-volt circuit installation sized to your charger’s requirements
  • Permit application and coordination with the local electrical inspector
  • Charger mounting and wiring at your preferred location
  • Full testing of the charger, ideally with your vehicle present
  • A walkthrough of charger operation before we leave

Charging Questions Oregon EV Owners Ask Us Most

Most home EV charger installations use a Level 2 charger, which runs on a 240-volt dedicated circuit and can charge most vehicles overnight or in a few hours. Level 1 charging uses a standard 120-volt outlet and is considerably slower, which can fall short for drivers who put real miles on their vehicle each day.

Safety Home Services installs Level 2 chargers and will help you confirm the right charger and amperage for your specific vehicle. If you already have a charger in mind, we can install it. If you need help choosing one, we’ll point you in the right direction.

It depends on your panel’s current load and available capacity, and Safety Home Services will assess this before any work is scheduled. Most Level 2 chargers require a 40- or 50-amp dedicated circuit, which adds real load to your existing panel.

If your panel is near capacity, an upgrade may be needed before the charger can be installed. Homes on older 100-amp service are the most common candidates for a panel upgrade in this situation. Safety Home Services handles panel upgrades as well, so if that’s part of the scope, it stays with the same team.

The electrical installation is similar across most Level 2 chargers, but the specific equipment and connector type vary by vehicle make and model. Safety Home Services is certified to handle the full range.

Safety Home Services is Tesla-certified, meaning we’re qualified to install Tesla Wall Connectors and follow Tesla’s installation guidelines directly. We’re also Qmerit-certified and ChargePoint-certified.

Regardless of make or model, the installation follows the same professional standard from start to finish. Customers can supply their own charger or purchase one through Safety Home Services, and our team will confirm the right charger and connector type for your vehicle before the installation begins.

For a standard installation, Safety Home Services aims to complete the job in a single visit. The timeline depends on the distance from your electrical panel to the charger location and whether any additional electrical work is needed before the circuit can be run. Most installations wrap up within a few hours.

We test the charger with your vehicle present when possible, so having the car home on installation day is recommended. If the vehicle isn’t available, we’ll schedule a brief follow-up to complete that final step.

Most homeowners install their charger in the garage or on an exterior wall close to where the vehicle parks, and a few things are worth thinking through before settling on a location.

  • Proximity to your electrical panel matters: the shorter the wiring run, the simpler and more cost-effective the installation
  • Proximity to your router for a strong signal and consistent software updates
  • Chargers installed outdoors require weatherproof-rated equipment built for exterior use
  • For homes with two parking spots or multiple EVs, placement that allows cable access to both vehicles is worth planning for upfront
  • Wall height and mounting surface should allow for convenient, comfortable access to the charging cable

Safety Home Services will walk through placement options during the initial assessment and help you land on a location that works for your home’s layout.

The electrician showed up on time and assessed the electrical issues on my girlfriends electrical panel at her house. The quote was free. He found there was a breaker that was incorrect for the panel and the main power breaker was somewhat corroded. He quoted us and then waited for the power company to shut off power and then fixed the issue promptly by installing a new correct breaker and then cleaning the panel. This was a big safety issue and the electrician waited patiently until our issue was resolved. The panel was sparking/arcing and created a fire hazard. As soon as the work was completed by Trevor the power in the home was working perfectly. We are grateful for the friendly and affordable service and especially how they were concerned with our safety and waited for the power company to turn off power and then fix our issue instead of rescheduling or going to a different job. Absolutely deserving of 5 stars!

I recently moved into my new home and had to have an EV charging plug installed and thought, well, might as well have extra outlets installed and ceiling fans too. The folks at Safety Home Services were so kind and responsive. Trevor at Safety home was able to give me an solution and start working on what needed to be done immediately. The solution and quote for everything that I needed to have done was about on par with what other places were quoting me. A bonus was the new monthly subscription at Safety Home that discounts 15% of any work done. Trevor was super professional and took time to explain all the ins and outs and made me feel good about the work that was being done. Being young and a first time homeowner can make it hard to trust whether people are being honest or trying to screw you over with work that has to be done on a home, but I never felt that way with Trevor and Victoria helping me out. They were super responsive and were always on time or communicative. I strongly recommend them for any first time homebuyers.

Safety provided excellent service! The tech (Kevin?) was a bit early, which was fine by me. I needed a new range hood/vent installed that I had already purchased on my own. He started by checking to see if the one I had was really dead or if there was a problem that could be remedied. He did discover that the fan wasn’t getting enough power to run and traced where the problem was coming from. He fixed it, but I wanted the new one installed anyway due to a color change. He got right to work getting the old one out and the new one in. He even made a trip to Home Depot to provide me with the correct light bulbs required, which I viewed as above and beyond. He was great to work with and I would recommend Safety to anyone in need of an electrician!
