Stop Working Around Bad Outlets
Portland's go-to electrician for outlet repair, installation, and upgrades — done in a single visit.

Electrical Outlet Repair & Installation in Portland, OR

Most Portland homeowners aren’t dealing with one outlet problem; they’re dealing with three or four they’ve stopped noticing. Safety Home Services is Salem-based and works in Portland regularly, and the pattern holds — by the time someone calls, there’s usually more going on than the original reason they reached out.

That’s why every visit starts with a 10-point safety assessment that looks beyond the outlet you called about to everything connected to it. We find what’s worth finding, fix it right, and don’t leave until everything is tested and you know exactly what was done.

Done Working Around It?

Every Outlet Problem We Handle

Dead outlets, warm outlets, outdated outlets, no outlets — we’ve seen every version of the problem Portland homes tend to develop. Whether you’re dealing with something that stopped working overnight or a room that was never wired for how you actually use it, the approach is the same: assess the full picture, fix what needs fixing, and make sure it holds. Here’s what we handle:

  • Repair or replacement of outlets that aren’t working, feel warm, or show visible damage
  • GFCI outlet installation and replacement for kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor areas
  • USB and USB-C outlet upgrades for built-in device charging
  • Outdoor outlet installation for patios, decks, and exterior walls
  • Adding outlets to rooms that don’t have enough
  • Outlet inspections as part of a broader home electrical assessment

You've Got Questions. We've Got Answers.

Outlets on the same circuit are often wired in series, meaning one failing outlet can take others down with it. That’s why our 10-point safety assessment looks beyond the outlet you called about to everything connected to it — fixing just the symptom without understanding the source is how the same problem comes back a month later.

Warmth coming from an outlet points to something worth addressing — a loose connection, an overloaded circuit, or internal damage are the usual causes. None of those get better on their own, and our assessment is designed to catch exactly these kinds of issues before they turn into something more serious.

Code requires GFCI protection anywhere near water — kitchens, bathrooms, garages, and outdoor areas — and a lot of older Portland homes are still missing them in one or more of those spaces. If your home was built before the mid-1970s or hasn’t had electrical work done recently, there’s a good chance some of those areas aren’t up to current standards.

USB and USB-C outlet upgrades replace your existing outlet with a combination unit and work off the existing wiring in most cases. It’s one of the more straightforward upgrades we do, completed in a single visit with no major wiring changes required.

Occasional small sparks can be normal, but frequent or large sparks are a sign of a worn outlet, loose connection, or overloaded circuit. Give us a call before it becomes a safety issue — it’s the kind of thing our assessment is built to diagnose quickly.

Portland's Homes Have History. We Know How to Work With It.

From the older craftsman homes in the Northeast to the newer builds coming up across the metro, Portland’s housing stock is varied — and the electrical systems inside reflect that. Wiring that’s been updated in stages, panels running close to capacity, outlets that haven’t been touched in 30 years. Safety Home Services has been running jobs across Portland long enough to walk into those situations prepared. We assess the full picture before any work starts, explain exactly what we find, and don’t consider the job done until everything is tested and working.

Don’t Take Our Word For It

The electrician showed up on time and assessed the electrical issues on my girlfriends electrical panel at her house. The quote was free. He found there was a breaker that was incorrect for the panel and the main power breaker was somewhat corroded. He quoted us and then waited for the power company to shut off power and then fixed the issue promptly by installing a new correct breaker and then cleaning the panel. This was a big safety issue and the electrician waited patiently until our issue was resolved. The panel was sparking/arcing and created a fire hazard. As soon as the work was completed by Trevor the power in the home was working perfectly. We are grateful for the friendly and affordable service and especially how they were concerned with our safety and waited for the power company to turn off power and then fix our issue instead of rescheduling or going to a different job. Absolutely deserving of 5 stars!

I recently moved into my new home and had to have an EV charging plug installed and thought, well, might as well have extra outlets installed and ceiling fans too. The folks at Safety Home Services were so kind and responsive. Trevor at Safety home was able to give me an solution and start working on what needed to be done immediately. The solution and quote for everything that I needed to have done was about on par with what other places were quoting me. A bonus was the new monthly subscription at Safety Home that discounts 15% of any work done. Trevor was super professional and took time to explain all the ins and outs and made me feel good about the work that was being done. Being young and a first time homeowner can make it hard to trust whether people are being honest or trying to screw you over with work that has to be done on a home, but I never felt that way with Trevor and Victoria helping me out. They were super responsive and were always on time or communicative. I strongly recommend them for any first time homebuyers.

Safety provided excellent service! The tech (Kevin?) was a bit early, which was fine by me. I needed a new range hood/vent installed that I had already purchased on my own. He started by checking to see if the one I had was really dead or if there was a problem that could be remedied. He did discover that the fan wasn’t getting enough power to run and traced where the problem was coming from. He fixed it, but I wanted the new one installed anyway due to a color change. He got right to work getting the old one out and the new one in. He even made a trip to Home Depot to provide me with the correct light bulbs required, which I viewed as above and beyond. He was great to work with and I would recommend Safety to anyone in need of an electrician!
