Licensed electricians upgrading electrical panels across Beaverton, from outdated 100-amp service to 200-amp panels built for how modern homes run.

Electrical Panel Upgrades in Beaverton, OR

Beaverton homes are asking more of their electrical systems every year. Between EV chargers in the driveway, heat pumps and heat pump water heaters replacing gas appliances, and kitchens built around induction stoves, a lot of the electrical panels installed decades ago simply weren’t sized for this kind of load. Safety Home Services helps Beaverton homeowners figure out whether their current panel can keep up, and what a panel upgrade would make possible.

Every panel upgrade starts with a full evaluation of your home’s electrical system, current panel size, existing circuits, and what you’re hoping to add down the road. Our licensed electricians handle permitting, coordinate with the utility company when needed, and see the job through from the old panel coming out to the new one being tested and signed off. Before we leave, you’ll know exactly what was done and why.

Ready to Upgrade Your Electrical Panel?

Signs Your Current Panel Needs an Upgrade

A lot of Beaverton’s older homes are still running on the same electric panel they were built with. Here’s what usually points to a panel that’s fallen behind:

  • Breakers that trip regularly, even with everyday use
  • An existing panel under 100 amps in a home with modern appliances
  • Plans to add an EV charger, or support for multiple EVs down the line
  • A switch from gas appliances to electric — think induction stoves, heat pumps, or a heat pump water heater
  • Circuit sharing devices installed as a workaround instead of adding real capacity
  • A home addition, solar panels, or any project that adds new load to the system

If any of that sounds familiar, it’s worth having a licensed electrician take a look before you invest in new appliances or run into a problem mid-project.

Panel Upgrades Built for Beaverton's Move to Electric

More Beaverton homeowners are planning for full electrification, and that starts with the panel. An outdated electrical panel is the most common bottleneck standing between a home and the appliances people actually want to run.

  • Heat pumps and heat pump water heaters: Heat pumps and heat pump water heaters are among the most energy saving equipment available for heating, cooling, and hot water, but they draw more power than the gas appliances they replace. A licensed electrician can confirm your current panel has the capacity, or size a new panel to support it alongside your existing electric appliances.
  • EV chargers: Whether you’re installing one Level 2 charger or planning ahead for multiple EVs, most homes need a 200 amp panel to comfortably support EV charging without limiting the rest of the house.
  • Induction stoves and modern appliances: Kitchens built around induction stoves and other modern electric appliances put a different kind of demand on a panel than a decades-old gas setup was ever designed for.
  • Solar panels: Homes adding solar need a panel that can handle two-way power flow safely. We evaluate your existing panel and electrical system before any solar work moves forward.

Whatever combination of these you’re planning — now or as part of future electrification projects — an upgrade sized correctly the first time saves you from a second round of electrical work later.

Here's What to Know Before You Call

If breakers trip often, you’re relying on circuit sharing devices, or you’re planning for an EV charger, heat pump, or heat pump water heater, your current panel may not have the electrical capacity to keep up. Older amp panels — especially anything under 100 amps — are common in Beaverton’s older neighborhoods and are worth having evaluated. Safety Home Services will give you an honest read on what your home’s panel can actually support.

Every service upgrade follows a similar process, though the specifics depend on your home’s wiring, the panel size you’re moving to, and whether utility coordination is required.

  • Inspection of your existing panel and electrical system
  • Permit application, required for panel work in Beaverton and throughout Washington County
  • Removal of the old panel and installation of the new panel
  • Coordination with the utility provider when applicable
  • Full circuit testing and a walkthrough before we leave

Most residential panel upgrades are completed in a single day, though jobs involving new wire, utility coordination, or additional circuits may take longer.

Panel upgrade costs depend on your home’s current panel, the size you’re upgrading to, and any additional electrical work the job requires — new wire, added circuits, or panel relocation, for example. Labor costs and materials both factor in, and Safety Home Services gives you a clear number before any work begins. Financing is available for qualifying jobs, with terms from 3 to 60 months, and checking your options won’t affect your credit score.

It depends on your home’s electric capacity today and what else is running on the panel. Our licensed electricians evaluate your current panel, existing circuits, and planned electric equipment — heat pump water heaters, EV chargers, induction stoves — before recommending whether you need a new panel or just additional circuits on your existing panel.

Panel size depends on your home’s electrical load today and what you want it to support going forward. For most homes, a 200 amp panel covers day-to-day use plus additions like an EV charger, heat pump, or updated kitchen. Larger homes, or homes with plans for multiple EVs, solar, or several new appliances at once, may need something bigger. We’ll assess your specific situation — smaller panels aren’t always a problem, but they do have limits — before making a recommendation.

The electrician showed up on time and assessed the electrical issues on my girlfriends electrical panel at her house. The quote was free. He found there was a breaker that was incorrect for the panel and the main power breaker was somewhat corroded. He quoted us and then waited for the power company to shut off power and then fixed the issue promptly by installing a new correct breaker and then cleaning the panel. This was a big safety issue and the electrician waited patiently until our issue was resolved. The panel was sparking/arcing and created a fire hazard. As soon as the work was completed by Trevor the power in the home was working perfectly. We are grateful for the friendly and affordable service and especially how they were concerned with our safety and waited for the power company to turn off power and then fix our issue instead of rescheduling or going to a different job. Absolutely deserving of 5 stars!

I recently moved into my new home and had to have an EV charging plug installed and thought, well, might as well have extra outlets installed and ceiling fans too. The folks at Safety Home Services were so kind and responsive. Trevor at Safety home was able to give me an solution and start working on what needed to be done immediately. The solution and quote for everything that I needed to have done was about on par with what other places were quoting me. A bonus was the new monthly subscription at Safety Home that discounts 15% of any work done. Trevor was super professional and took time to explain all the ins and outs and made me feel good about the work that was being done. Being young and a first time homeowner can make it hard to trust whether people are being honest or trying to screw you over with work that has to be done on a home, but I never felt that way with Trevor and Victoria helping me out. They were super responsive and were always on time or communicative. I strongly recommend them for any first time homebuyers.

Safety provided excellent service! The tech (Kevin?) was a bit early, which was fine by me. I needed a new range hood/vent installed that I had already purchased on my own. He started by checking to see if the one I had was really dead or if there was a problem that could be remedied. He did discover that the fan wasn’t getting enough power to run and traced where the problem was coming from. He fixed it, but I wanted the new one installed anyway due to a color change. He got right to work getting the old one out and the new one in. He even made a trip to Home Depot to provide me with the correct light bulbs required, which I viewed as above and beyond. He was great to work with and I would recommend Safety to anyone in need of an electrician!
