Electrical Panel Upgrades in Eugene, OR

At some point, every home reaches the same moment — the EV charger you want to add, the kitchen upgrade you’ve been planning, the home office that keeps tripping the breaker. The panel becomes the bottleneck, and everything else waits. Safety Home Services helps Eugene homeowners get past that point by figuring out exactly what the current panel can handle and what an upgrade would change.

Every job starts with a thorough assessment of your existing system. We pull permits through the City of Eugene, coordinate with EWEB or Pacific Power when required, and see the job through completely. We’re Qmerit-certified, every circuit gets tested before we leave, and we walk you through the new setup before heading out.

What Could Your Home Do With More Power?

What an Electrical Panel Upgrade Actually Involves

Panel upgrades in Eugene’s older neighborhoods require attention to detail that newer construction doesn’t always demand. Here’s what every job includes from start to finish.

  • Evaluation of your current panel, load, and capacity needs
  • Permit application through the City of Eugene Building and Permit Services
  • Utility coordination with EWEB or Pacific Power when required
  • Removal of the old panel and installation of the new one
  • Circuit testing before the work is signed off
  • Full cleanup with everything left neat and in order

Everything Worth Knowing Before You Upgrade

Not necessarily. Most of the work happens at the panel itself, and while your power will be off for a portion of the job, you don’t need to be present for every step. We coordinate the timing with you upfront and keep you informed throughout so you’re never left guessing about where things stand. Most Eugene panel upgrades wrap up within a single day.

Your existing circuits are carefully transferred to the new panel as part of the upgrade process, and each one is tested before the job is signed off. If any circuits show signs of wear or issues during the transfer, we flag them and walk you through your options before doing anything additional. Nothing gets added to the scope without your approval.

The main thing is making sure the area around your current panel is accessible and that you’re prepared for a period without power during the job. We’ll walk you through everything to expect when we schedule the work, so there are no surprises on the day. Beyond that, our team handles the rest.

A newer, properly sized panel won’t directly lower your energy bill, but it can support upgrades that do, like smart panels that monitor usage by circuit, EV chargers that charge during off-peak hours, and energy-efficient appliances that older panels couldn’t reliably support. Think of the panel upgrade as the foundation that makes everything else more effective. If energy efficiency is a goal, bring it up during the assessment, and we’ll factor it in.

Yes, financing is available through Wisetack, which works with multiple lenders, so more Eugene homeowners get approved than through a single source. Terms range from three to 60 months, checking your options takes under a minute, and it won’t affect your credit score. Ask about it when you reach out, and we’ll walk you through what’s available.

Eugene's Oldest Homes Have Met Their Electrician

Older Eugene homes don’t always give up their secrets easily. Decades of patchwork electrical decisions, wiring that predates modern demand, panels that have been added to rather than properly upgraded — these are the things our team is specifically prepared to find and address.

Safety Home Services has been completing panel upgrades across Eugene for several years, and the experience shows in how we approach every assessment, every permit, and every job from the Whiteaker to South Eugene and beyond.

The electrician showed up on time and assessed the electrical issues on my girlfriends electrical panel at her house. The quote was free. He found there was a breaker that was incorrect for the panel and the main power breaker was somewhat corroded. He quoted us and then waited for the power company to shut off power and then fixed the issue promptly by installing a new correct breaker and then cleaning the panel. This was a big safety issue and the electrician waited patiently until our issue was resolved. The panel was sparking/arcing and created a fire hazard. As soon as the work was completed by Trevor the power in the home was working perfectly. We are grateful for the friendly and affordable service and especially how they were concerned with our safety and waited for the power company to turn off power and then fix our issue instead of rescheduling or going to a different job. Absolutely deserving of 5 stars!

I recently moved into my new home and had to have an EV charging plug installed and thought, well, might as well have extra outlets installed and ceiling fans too. The folks at Safety Home Services were so kind and responsive. Trevor at Safety home was able to give me an solution and start working on what needed to be done immediately. The solution and quote for everything that I needed to have done was about on par with what other places were quoting me. A bonus was the new monthly subscription at Safety Home that discounts 15% of any work done. Trevor was super professional and took time to explain all the ins and outs and made me feel good about the work that was being done. Being young and a first time homeowner can make it hard to trust whether people are being honest or trying to screw you over with work that has to be done on a home, but I never felt that way with Trevor and Victoria helping me out. They were super responsive and were always on time or communicative. I strongly recommend them for any first time homebuyers.

Safety provided excellent service! The tech (Kevin?) was a bit early, which was fine by me. I needed a new range hood/vent installed that I had already purchased on my own. He started by checking to see if the one I had was really dead or if there was a problem that could be remedied. He did discover that the fan wasn’t getting enough power to run and traced where the problem was coming from. He fixed it, but I wanted the new one installed anyway due to a color change. He got right to work getting the old one out and the new one in. He even made a trip to Home Depot to provide me with the correct light bulbs required, which I viewed as above and beyond. He was great to work with and I would recommend Safety to anyone in need of an electrician!
