Licensed electricians upgrading residential electrical panels throughout the Willamette Valley, from 100-amp to 200-amp and beyond.

Electrical Panel Upgrades in Salem, OR

Most homes throughout the Willamette Valley were built with panels that made sense at the time, but the way people use electricity has changed. Adding an EV charger, upgrading the kitchen, or supporting a home office can push an older 100-amp panel to its limit. Safety Home Services helps homeowners in Salem and the surrounding area understand what their current setup can handle and what an upgrade would open up.

Every panel upgrade starts with a thorough assessment of your home’s existing electrical system. Our licensed electricians pull the necessary permits, coordinate with the utility company when required, and see the job through from start to finish. Before leaving, we test every circuit and walk you through the new setup, so you know exactly what’s been done.

What Salem Homeowners Ask About Panel Upgrades

Several things can point toward a panel upgrade. If breakers trip regularly, or you’re planning to add an EV charger, a hot tub, or significant square footage, your current panel may not have the capacity to keep up.

Older service panels, especially in homes built several decades ago, are often good candidates for evaluation. Safety Home Services will assess your setup and give you a clear answer. No upsell, just an honest read on what your home actually needs.

Every upgrade follows a structured process, though the specifics depend on your home’s current wiring, the service size you’re moving to, and whether or not utility coordination is required.

  • Inspection of your existing panel and load requirements
  • Permit application, which is required for all panel work in Oregon
  • Removal of the old panel and installation of the new service
  • Coordination with your utility provider when applicable
  • Full circuit testing and a homeowner walkthrough before we leave

Most residential panel upgrades are completed within a single day, though jobs requiring utility involvement or additional wiring work may take longer.

Panel upgrade costs depend on your home’s current setup, the service size you’re moving to, and whether any additional wiring or infrastructure work is required. Safety Home Services provides a clear solution before any work begins, and we walk you through the details so you know what you’re paying for.

Financing is available for qualifying jobs, with terms from 3 to 60 months. Checking your options takes under a minute and won’t affect your credit score. Ask your technician for details.

Safety Home Services installs smart electrical panels and works with homeowners who are looking to build automation into their home’s electrical system. Here’s what smart panel technology typically makes possible:

  • Real-time monitoring of energy use by individual circuit, viewable from your phone
  • Remote control of circuits, including the ability to schedule or shut them off
  • Integration with EV chargers, solar systems, and smart home devices
  • Alerts when something out of the ordinary is detected

If you’re interested in exploring your options, ask your technician for further details.

The right panel size depends on your current electrical load and what you’re planning to support. For most homes, 200-amp service covers everyday demand along with additions like an EV charger or an updated kitchen.

Larger homes or those adding a workshop, multiple high-draw appliances, or substantial new square footage may call for something bigger. Safety Home Services will assess your specific situation before making a recommendation. The goal is a panel that fits where you are now and where you’re headed.

The electrician showed up on time and assessed the electrical issues on my girlfriends electrical panel at her house. The quote was free. He found there was a breaker that was incorrect for the panel and the main power breaker was somewhat corroded. He quoted us and then waited for the power company to shut off power and then fixed the issue promptly by installing a new correct breaker and then cleaning the panel. This was a big safety issue and the electrician waited patiently until our issue was resolved. The panel was sparking/arcing and created a fire hazard. As soon as the work was completed by Trevor the power in the home was working perfectly. We are grateful for the friendly and affordable service and especially how they were concerned with our safety and waited for the power company to turn off power and then fix our issue instead of rescheduling or going to a different job. Absolutely deserving of 5 stars!

I recently moved into my new home and had to have an EV charging plug installed and thought, well, might as well have extra outlets installed and ceiling fans too. The folks at Safety Home Services were so kind and responsive. Trevor at Safety home was able to give me an solution and start working on what needed to be done immediately. The solution and quote for everything that I needed to have done was about on par with what other places were quoting me. A bonus was the new monthly subscription at Safety Home that discounts 15% of any work done. Trevor was super professional and took time to explain all the ins and outs and made me feel good about the work that was being done. Being young and a first time homeowner can make it hard to trust whether people are being honest or trying to screw you over with work that has to be done on a home, but I never felt that way with Trevor and Victoria helping me out. They were super responsive and were always on time or communicative. I strongly recommend them for any first time homebuyers.

Safety provided excellent service! The tech (Kevin?) was a bit early, which was fine by me. I needed a new range hood/vent installed that I had already purchased on my own. He started by checking to see if the one I had was really dead or if there was a problem that could be remedied. He did discover that the fan wasn’t getting enough power to run and traced where the problem was coming from. He fixed it, but I wanted the new one installed anyway due to a color change. He got right to work getting the old one out and the new one in. He even made a trip to Home Depot to provide me with the correct light bulbs required, which I viewed as above and beyond. He was great to work with and I would recommend Safety to anyone in need of an electrician!
